Week 2 Image

This art work is one of the pages in the Calendarium by Regiomontanus, made on the year 1476. What I really like about this piece is the balance between decoration and text by having this, it has a great amount of white space. If I could read Latin, it would be more comfortable than other text which is all compressed together. I think the touch of color is good beginning with the paragraph adding a touch of color and also in the border. The design of the border is really beautiful in the terms of nature making it more peaceful and traditional. But over all I believe it worked out well with the help of balance between decoration and text.

  1. While there is a good amount of white space, don't you also feel that the border constrains and keeps things in? I think having the true border only on three sides helps. I find the line length and the type alignment interesting as well – it almost reads like a poem.

  2. I do agree with having the feeling of constrain with the borders but as you said that it balances out with only three borders. I just really like the medievalness in it.
